About

I’m Beth Sluzewski, and I’m SO thrilled that you’re here. I’m a wife and mother, trained ProDoula Childbirth Educator and Birth Doula, owner of Heights Birth Services, and a “Book Lady” with Usborne Books & More. Babies, books, and birth are three small parts of what makes up my Happiness in the Heights.

I grew up in rural Northwest Ohio, and relocated to Northeast Ohio where I attended Kent State University for my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Youth Development. I met my husband slinging drinks at a local bar, and much to our parents’ dismay, we did find love in a bar.

My husband and I married in 2008, moved to Cleveland Heights, and the rest is history…sort of.

We welcomed our first son, Greyson James in 2009, and our birth experience helped to create the foundation for my passion for pregnancy and birth. I was a Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth Educator for five years, before deciding that one particular “method” of childbirth wasn’t sitting well with me anymore, and I left the academy. Our daughter Charlotte joined our family in 2012, and Theodore completed the Trio of Slukids in 2014.

In a previous life I was an Infant Teacher, Toddler Teacher, and Preschool Teacher. I was a home-based Early Intervention Service Coordinator for several years before deciding to stay home with my children, and have been an Independent and Educational Consultant with Usborne Books & More since September 2014.

One day, when life eases up a bit, I’ll finish the one requirement needed to complete my M.Ed in Special Education. There’s always next semester. 🙂
